Second Ethical Gem Fair - London - 31 August - 1st Sep 2018

5 July 2018

The success of the inaugural Ethical Gem Fair in early March 2018 has resulted in the collaborative partnership of three of the UK’s leading ethically sourced gemstone suppliers, Stuart Pool (Nineteen48), Kathy Chappell (Fair Trade Gemstones) and Ian Bone (Capricorn Gems-Queensland, Australia) organising a second fair just prior the IJL London Jewellery Show.

The second fair will be a two-day event which will not only see gemstones available that offer full provenance, but presentations from each of the suppliers about the traceability and sourcing of the gemstones that they are bringing to the market. Jewellery designers from all over the UK and the continent will be able to view and purchase gemstones on display.

"The first fair earlier this year was a real eye opener for us and demonstrated that UK and European designers have a growing appetite for gemstones that have full provenance and are mined ethically and responsibly. Moreover we also want to share our story about how our gemstones are mined and processed as well as working with our designer friends to take these stories to their customers and clients that is why we are having a series of short presentations on the first day of the show.” said Stuart Pool.

Designers can be assured that every stone they will see at the show will have been sourced responsibly.

The gemstones available will include a wide range of sapphire, ruby, opals, diamonds, tanzanite, tourmaline, zircon, aquamarine and chrysoprase. These gems come from traceable sources in Sri Lanka, Australia, Malawi, Tanzania and the USA. Other gems from these locations will also be available to buy.

The fair is being held at the Novotel London West (Hammersmith), on August 31st - September 1st 2018. Booking for the event will be via an Eventbrite page which will be online by the end of July.
