Ntinga reports positive start to year as it sets its sights on CMJ Trade Event

1 March 2018

Fine jewellery brand Ntinga has reported a strong start to 2018: sales at the recent Houlden event exceeded expectations, and the brand hopes this positivity will continue at the weekend’s CMJ Spring Trade Event.

The annual Houlden buying event, which took place in London on 20–21 February, saw Ntinga take twice as many orders as in the previous year.

This strong sales performance continues from 2017, when family business Ntinga opened with a total of 36 new stockists. In January 2018, Ntinga announced ambitious plans to further expand its distribution this year, which it hopes will be achieved partly through being an approved supplier to buying groups such as Houlden and the Company of Master Jewellers (CMJ).

Ntinga’s new products for spring/summer 2018 were warmly received by the prestigious Houlden retailers last week, with jewellery set with unusual gemstones such as bi-colour tourmalines and Ethiopian opals proving particularly popular with members. Ntinga’s new Superlight collection, a range of fine diamond and 18ct gold rings set with gemstone or diamond centres in a variety of shapes, also sold well at the two-day Houlden show.

Houlden retailers were equally keen to re-order from Ntinga’s best-selling Lustre and From the Earth lines. Its unique Lustre collection sees diamonds laser-drilled with a 0.3mm hole and suspended from a thin metal ring, ensuring maximum sparkle when worn, while Ntinga’s popular From the Earth range features one-off pieces set with rough diamonds, creating beauty from the imperfect.

Howard Graham, managing director of Ntinga, said: “We are delighted with such a strong start to the year, having seen such strong orders of both our new and existing collections. At the Houlden show, all the customers we spoke to had a generally a positive vibe about how business has been so far this year, which was great to hear, and we hope this will continue at the weekend when we attend the CMJ Trade Event.”

Ntinga has recently been shortlisted in the Supplier of the Year category at the UK Jewellery Awards 2018, with the winner set to be announced at the London ceremony on 4 July.
