An unmissable event for anyone in the jewellery industry

The NAJ’s annual Loughborough conference, now in its 29th year, will be taking place from Saturday 16th to Monday 18th September. This conference appeals to all sectors with over 200 individuals in attendance from across the jewellery trade including valuers, retailers, manufacturers, gemmologists and crafts people.

Attendees can expand their knowledge and make new contacts through an exciting programme of presentations and workshops during a two-and-a-half-day residential event held in Loughborough, at the University of Technology with accommodation and meals provided.

Speakers include industry stalwarts Stephen Alabaster, Harriet Kelsall, Guy Clutterbuck and David Callaghan. Whilst the workshops will cover pearls, gemmology, jewellery, silver, photography and promoting your business to name but a few. Other conference attractions include exhibitors, a Gemstone Market and the ‘Welcome to Valuing’ sessions which are designed for those who are thinking about becoming a valuer.

Advances in the Detection of Synthetic & Treated Diamonds

David FisherAs the Principal Scientist at the De Beers Technologies Research Centre in the UK, David Fisher will highlight the current challenges and the instrumentation that has been developed to assist the industryin ensuring reliable detection to support full disclosure throughout the diamond pipeline.



The Value of Bespoke

Harriet KelsallAward designer and business trailblazer Harriet Kelsall will examine the value of bespoke. Including the many definitions of bespoke, the design process within Harriet’s business and the challenges of insuring bespoke work adequately.




An Insight into the World of Valuing for Aspiring Valuers

Shirley D MitchellJoin long-standing Fellows of the Institute of Registered Valuers Shirley D Mitchell and friends in their ‘ Welcome to Valuing Session’ to learn what is involved in a professional valuation. This session is ideal for those who are thinking about introducing a valuation service into their business.



Crown of Light Diamond

Tammy CohenTammy Cohen from New York based Almod Diamonds joins the line-up of speakers to share the secrets of the world famous Crown of Light Diamond. Listeners will learn how to use and brand the diamond effectively in collections.
