UK Jewellery Awards 2017 winners revealed

3 July 2017

Independent retailer Allum & Sidaway, supplier WB The Creative Jewellery Awards and jewellery brand Swarovski were all big winners at last night’s 25th anniversary edition of the UK Jewellery Awards in association with Clogau, which took place at the Hilton Park Lane yesterday (June 29).

Walking away with two gongs, Dorset-based Allum & Sidaway picked up the award for Best Store Environment for its new Sailsbury store as well as the coveted Retailer of the Year (five stores or fewer) accolade.

Also scooping two awards, WB – The Creative Jewellery Group was recognised for its ethical credentials in the Ethical Jewellery Business of the Year category as well as picking up the Supplier of the Year award for its fine jewellery business, Domino.

Elsewhere, global jewellery giant Swarovski picked up the Jewellery Brand of the Year award, which was this year decided by a consumer poll. Also decided by consumer vote, the Watch Brand of the Year and Fine Jewellery Brand of the Year awards went to Seiko and Georg Jensen respectively.

Breaking the mould in the Retailer of the Year (six stores or more) category, Clogau were victorious, making the Welsh jewellery business the first mono-brand boutique to ever win the prestigious accolade, seeing off stiff competition from many multi-brand retailers with a near-perfect mystery shop report.

Also big winners last night, multiple retailer Beaverbrooks took home the Employer of the Year award in addition to the businesses’ chairman Mark Adlestone receiving the evening’s highest honour in the form of the Outstanding Contribution to the Industry award.

Adlestone was given the important accolade in recognition of all he has done for his business, the jewellery industry and the wider community through his charitable efforts.

Two new awards this year – Marketing Campaign of the Year and Retail Sales Star – were both well entered and went to Drakes Jewellers for its #JustBecause campaign and Gemma Clive from Pressleys respectively.

A full list of all last night’s winners is detailed below and the event saw over 660 guests in attendance.

Retail Jeweller editor Ruth Faulkner said: “Last night’s 25th anniversary edition of the industry’s leading awards event has been nothing short of phenomenal.

“We have had a record number of guests and sponsors at the event and we are extremely grateful to everyone who has attended to support the achievements of friends, colleagues and, more importantly, the industry.

“Congratulations to all of our very worthy winners!”
