Under the leadership of recently appointed Vice-Chair, and MonaPink jewellery Creative Director and Founder, Monika Kamycka, the Committee started a process in August to review the purpose and priorities of the UK leading membership organisation for British enamellers.

Two sessions were facilitated by industry influencer, Living Content Director and Founder, Nyasha Pitt, who worked with Committee members to review current operational strengths and weaknesses, assess opportunities, define operating principles and crystallise the core purpose of the organisation. After the initial intensive two-hour session in August, the BSOE membership were engaged and asked to feedback on two central questions:

  1. What should be the single most important objective for the BSOE within the next 3 years?
  2. Write down three words that best describe BSOE values.

Commenting on the feedback received, Vice-Chair Monika Kamycka said: “We were truly overwhelmed with the response. More than 50% of our membership took part in our survey! Membership engagement is a central focus are for the Committee going forward, so we were so pleased that our members took the time to engage in this very important process, especially as it will shape the direction of travel for the next few years.”

A second workshop in November served to review the membership feedback and the initial outcomes from the Committee’s first session 3 months before.

The British Society of Enamellers new mission statement is:

"Our mission is to connect, inspire, support and promote the professional Enamelling community."

The new values are Brilliance | Supportive | Open | Engaging

Commenting on the new mission and values, Monika added, “Our new values are a great reflection of what we stand for, how we should behave and what we want to deliver for all of our members. And they also use the BSOE initials, which should help us all remember them too!”

All respondents to the Mission and Values survey were put into a free prize draw to win one year’s membership, with Bursary member Caroline Maddison from Ceulandesigns, scooping the winning prize!

Enamellers interested in the BSOE or in getting involved in the Committee’s activities, should email for more information and joining instructions.
