NAJ’s popular monthly webinar series, NAJ Live, held on the last Thursday of every month will explore independent retail in the time of Covid, and review how members are responding.

Starting at 10am on Thursday 28th January, ‘Independent jewellery retail in the time of Covid’ will be hosted by Garry Lane, Commercial Manager of the BATF, and aims to provide independent retailers with useful and practical advice, as well as the opportunity to share experiences through the video conference bubbles which follow presentations.

10.00 Welcome and Introduction, Garry Lane

Bringing you up to date on where the jewellery community is at this moment in time, what reports are in from jewellers and also some of the important updates that have appeared recently, and the potential implications facing members in the future.

10.05 How other Retail Jewellers made the most of previous lockdowns, Michael Donaldson

Opening speaker Michael Donaldson, facilitator of the NAJ’s own independent retail community, the JET Business Network (JBN)  has more than 30 years of sales and marketing experience under his belt and has improved business performance of leading companies in the jewellery, domestic appliance, consumer durable and FMCG sectors.

Throughout the pandemic lockdown JBN members have continued to meet on zoom for a catch up on all things covid, business and social. That’s everything from member polls, communication and leadership webinars, advice on applying for grants, tips on e-commerce success, and understanding how some members have managed to increase year on year revenues, as well as evening quiz nights and boozy bingo sessions.

A Q and A will be included in this session.

11.00 Member Marketplace benefit in focus: Back on the High Street Ltd, Scott Walker

Following Michael will be Scott Walker from Back on the high Street Ltd, a new business born out of the effects Covid is having on the traditional high street, and traditional independent retail more generally. In his brief session, Scott will share what and how Back on the High street are supporting independent jewellers with their expertise and services available.

11.15 Independent Jeweller Interview; Ian Cookson, PA Jewellery

Finally, the session wouldn’t be complete without hearing directly from an independent jewellery retailer – to share their experiences of lockdown 1, 2 and now 3. And, how in between these circumstances the business has evolved to suit. Ian, from Sheffield based PA Jewellery will reflect on his last 12 months as well as share experiences and be available for a brief Q and A.

11.30 Networking Bubbles

The NAJ Live will then move from a webinar format to meeting ‘bubbles’ where attendees can join speakers and others to share their experiences in a video conference format.
